Interested in writing an article for the Genealogies of Modernity Project?

We are looking for essays that consider various features of modernity and the paths to modernity. We are also looking to investigate pathways not taken and modernities that could be. Our approach is meant to be broad and intellectually ecumenical with room for creative approaches. We are looking for pieces from all academic disciplines in the humanities and sciences and from writers outside the academy. Articles should be pitched to a general audience.

Essays are generally about 500-1500 words. For ideas that take more space, we will consider articles in a series of 2-3 pieces. We welcome book reviews. Book reviews should not be written in the style of academic journals. Rather, they should be written more like pieces for the Dublin Review of Book, Times Literary Supplement, or other review magazines. Articles should not have footnotes. Rather, please hyperlink to articles or books cited.

Email a short pitch (150 words) to genofmodblog@gmail.com and we will get back to you about developing an article. Please note that the acceptance of an article pitch does not guarantee the acceptance of the article itself.
